Casualties, Convalescence and Community: Arundel Red Cross Hospital in the Great War

Come along to our exciting new exhibition presenting the Heritage Lottery funded project, Casualties, Convalescence and Community.

100 years ago St Wilfrid’s Priory was a busy Red Cross Hospital where volunteers from Arundel and the surrounding area worked tirelessly to care for wounded servicemen recovering from injuries and illnesses sustained while fighting in the Great War, providing a sanctuary where men who had confronted the horrors of war were able to heal their bodies and minds before returning to fight again for their country.

The exhibition includes contemporary photos, articles, journals, sketches, autographs and messages from grateful patients.

Entry free, donations welcome
